From the Pastor:

Catholic Appeal - 2010:  This is Catholic Appeal Weekend here at Saint Raphael Parish. We, like all parishes throughout our Archdiocese, are being asked by Cardinal Seán to participate by making a pledge. The Appeal is a once-a-year pledge drive to benefit the many central ministries and services of the Archdiocese of Boston. The Appeal is to our Archdiocese what the weekly offertory is to our parish. Because of the economic downturn, support of the Catholic Appeal is more urgent this year. Thank you in advance for joining with parishioners throughout our Archdiocese’s 291 parishes to carry on the broader work of our Church. Those of you that gave to the Appeal last year should have received a letter from Cardinal Sean. We invite all others to take home an information packet from Mass this weekend. Every gift matters. For more information, please visit:  www.BostonCatholicAppeal.org.

What's Happening in the Parish

Fleece Blanket Workshop:  A warm “Thank You” to all of the participants of the “Warm and Fuzzy” Fleece Blanket Workshop who came together under the direction of the Greater Boston Chapter of Project Linus to make seventy blankets for children in Haiti.  Ranging in ability from first time crafters to experienced seamstresses, they worked together in an atmosphere of love and laughter for the benefit of traumatized children. Special recognition and appreciation are due to Mrs. Ellen Crozier, third grade teacher at Saint Raphael School and school parents Lynne Barberian and Lynne Parrella for the effort they expended to make the evening such a success.

First Communion Donations: As has long been our custom – donations are being accepted to assist “economically challenged” families in our parish by providing assistance with First Communion clothing. Donations may be given to honor someone’s special occasion or “in memory” of a loved one. Your past generosity has made it possible for ALL children to feel SPECIAL on First Communion morning and provides parents with the “gift “of being able to shop with their child for something NEW! (Donations can be mailed/dropped-off @ the Rectory: 38 Boston Avenue or placed in the collection basket. Please put donation in an envelope marked attn: Ginny McCabe or Margo Malone: First Communion. (All donations will be acknowledged and if needed - a letter will be sent to the honoree of your gift if it’s a remembrance. For further information just call: 781-483-1139. Thanks so much!
