Saint Raphael School Bugle: June 4, 2010

The Week That Was

  • This morning, we held our annual Role Model Day. Our eighth grade students presented the person whom they hold as role models. Students selected siblings, parents, grandparents, and other family members as well as family friends and other adults who have played a significant role in their lives. As a reflection of the values they have learned at home and in school, we as a school community can be proud of these students who will be graduating next week.
  • Our fourth grade students presented their “Historical Explorations” to the third and fifth grade students as well as to family members this afternoon in Our Lady’s Hall. The students showed their developing research and public speaking skills. They did a fine job.

The Week To Come

  • Next week is the last full week of school with several culminating activities.
  • Eighth Grade Class Night and Graduation

Monday night is the Class Night Dinner for our eighth grade activities. Students, parents, and staff will gather in the Parish Hall at Immaculate Conception Parish for a dinner and a brief program. After dinner, the students will have a chance to socialize with music provided by a DJ.

On Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. we will hold our Graduation Liturgy for the graduates and their families. We are very proud of the accomplishments of this class.

We know that for some families, graduation will mark the end of their active relationship with Saint Raphael School. We thank them for their support and sacrifice in sending their children to our school.

  • Preschool Celebrations

Our four-year-old class will hold their final day celebration on Thursday at 8:15 AM.

The three-year-old class will have their closing ceremony at 10:00 AM.

What joy these students bring to our school. Watching them grow and develop borders on the miraculous.

  • Kindergarten Celebration

The closing celebration for our kindergarten students that marks the end of their year is Friday morning at 9:00 AM in OLH. Because their rooms are so close to the office, I see them more often than any other grade. Their growth from September to June is so remarkable.

  • Discovery Programs

The last day for the Preschool After School Discovery is Tuesday. I very much appreciate the additional efforts of the staff in providing this program.

Friday is the last day for the Discovery Club for K-7. We cannot thank Mrs. Garrity enough for her work with Discovery.

Notes:

  • The sixth grade Girl Scouts will be running a used uniform sale as a fundraiser for the Medical Missionaries of Mary.  The sale will take place during the last week of school on Monday and Tuesday mornings, June 14 and 15 from 7:15 to 8:15 and from 11:00 to 11:45.  Please send in any gym, warm weather or formal uniforms that your kids have outgrown.  There will be a tote by the office for your donations.  Also, please plan on outfitting the kids for next year at bargain prices.  The Medical Missionaries of Mary is a great cause.  Please contact Maureen Nahill at mfnahill@gmail.com with any questions.
  • The Lost and Found Table will be in the cafeteria through Wednesday. All items remaining after that will be donated to charity.
  • I am happy to announce the Monique O’Connell and Jennifer DeNisco have graciously agreed to serve as Co-Chairs of “Partners.” We are grateful to them for their willingness to step up and help organize our parental support. They agreed to take on this role because they know that you will be there to assist them and to assume lead roles in the various activities. Your support is critical to our success as a school. With the promise of the new Parish Center becoming available in late Fall, we look forward to resuming a full slate of activities next year.

I know you join me in thanking Judy Mastrocola and Christine Leonard for their wonderful leadership of Partners over the last few years. Their generosity has been very much appreciated. Thanks Judy and Christine.

Thank you for sending your children to Saint Raphael School.
