Liturgy

Altar Servers
The Altar Servers of Saint Raphael Parish assist the priests at Mass. They prepare the sanctuary for Holy Mass, are the leaders of the procession, assist with the preparation of the gifts, and attend to whatever other duties are required for the celebration of liturgical services. Traditionally this role is fulfilled by children and young people. Altar servers are encouraged to continue as long as the Lord blesses them with this role. Any boy/girl grade 4 and up is welcome to be an altar server. Contact Father Coughlin.

Altar Society
The Saint Raphael Altar Society is a group of men and women who have volunteered to be responsible for cleaning the sanctuary areas of the church and for maintaining responsibility of the book racks in each of the church pews.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
These men and women are chosen to give service to their brothers and sisters at Mass by distributing Holy Communion. People are chosen on the basis of their consistent faith as well as their moral standing in the parish community. This is not a program for which one can volunteer, but a desire to be considered can certainly be expressed to the priests of the parish. After completing the training program for this office, they are commissioned by our pastor to serve for a period of three years.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist to the Sick
The Eucharist is made available to our homebound parishioners and to those in the hospital and nursing homes through the extraordinary efforts of this group of men and women. These ministers are specially chosen but one can express a desire to be considered for this ministry. For information on becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist please contact the Parish Center at 781-488-5444.

Music Ministry
Music is an integral part of the Liturgy. One of St. Augustine’s most famous quotes is “One who sings, prays twice”. Here at Saint Raphael we have a vibrant and active Music Ministry, including professional Cantors and 3 choirs, Adults, Young Adults, and Children. If you are interested in becoming a part of this Ministry, please contact rlynch@saintraphaelparish.org

Greeters
Greeters are responsible for welcoming parishioners to Mass and distributing the weekly parish bulletin and any other literature.

Lectors
Lectors are parish women or men (including young adults of high school age) , who communicate God’s Word by doing the readings at Mass. The lector should be a good reader who is able to do so with enthusiasm and clarity. Any member of the parish who wishes to offer his or her service is invited to contact the Parish Center at 781-488-5444.

Ushers
This ministry is involved with seating of the parishioners at Mass, taking up the collections and handling any emergencies that might arise at Mass. Our ushers work with our greeters in distributing the weekly parish bulletin and any other literature.

Welcoming Committee
The Welcoming Committee is a group of volunteers who have the unique opportunity to have a meaningful, positive impact on both the Parish and the Community. It includes Sunday morning coffees and other opportunities within the Parish as well as extending our outreach into the broader community. If you are interested, please contact Annie McGonagle at annmcgonagle01@hotmail.com
